A registered nurse was killed after she was accidentally hit by gunfire while riding a tricycle during a shooting incident in General Santos City on February 2, 2026, prompting her family and community to call for justice.

The victim was identified as Nhiezer Rolliene Jane U. Aguacito, a registered nurse and alumna of the College of Health Sciences of Sultan Kudarat State University, whom her husband described as a loving wife and mother whose life was devoted to service and compassion.

Police said Aguacito was not the intended target of the attack, as the primary subject of the shooting was Iven Conde, 32, who was declared dead on arrival after being shot by suspected riding-in-tandem assailants.

Authorities said Aguacito sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was immediately rushed to the hospital, but was later declared dead on arrival.

Initial investigation revealed that Aguacito was on her way home after buying groceries when the ambush occurred, leaving her caught in the crossfire.

Police disclosed that Conde had an outstanding warrant of arrest for rape of a minor filed in Sultan Kudarat in 2017, which investigators are considering as a possible motive behind the killing.

“Nakulong po siya dati pero ‘yun pa ang tinitingnan pa namin kung naka-post ng bail kung bakit siya nakalaya. ‘Yun ang isa sa mga tinitingnan naming motibo sa kaso niya na rape—maaaring personal grudge o retaliation,” said Police Major Ivan Charles Abastillas, Chief of Police Station 4 of the General Santos City Police Office.

The victim’s mother-in-law also expressed her outrage over the incident on a Facebook post, noting that Aguacito had only started working a few months ago before her life was tragically cut short.

Aguacito’s family, relatives, friends, and members of the community are now calling for justice and for authorities to hold those responsible accountable.
